Qualitative Methods for Social Research and Public Policy
Master's Program in Development Studies held a Guest Lecture for the SP5203 Research Methodology course which was held online via video conference on March 29, 2021.
To provide enrichment of insight and comprehensive field experience for students, guest lecturers with various relevant professional backgrounds such as practitioners and academics are presented. In this Guest Lecture, Ms. Yulia Indrawati Sari, Ph.D., a Lecturer in the Department of International Relations, Parahyangan University presented a presentation on "Qualitative Methods in Social Research and Public Policy".
This Guest Lecture was moderated by Mr. Ir. Tubagus Furqon Sofhani, MA., Ph.D as a lecturer of SP5203 Research Methodology at the Masters Program in Development Studies SAPPK-ITB.
At the beginning of her presentation, Mrs. Yulia Indrawati Sari, Ph.D explained that qualitative research methods allow researchers to explore/understand a problem or phenomenon from the perspective of the people involved (stakeholders) and or affected and also explore research problems (phenomena) thoroughly. and understand research problems/phenomena that are 'hidden/sensitive', different/unique.
Furthermore, Mrs. Yulia Indrawati Sari, Ph.D also explained that Qualitative Research explains about:
- Experience.
- Meaning .
- Rreasoning/rational (reasoning/rational)
- Process, flow of events that lead to outcome, context .
- Interaction .
The lecture ended by a question and answer session between students and guest lecturer.
